Sasawane Beach belongs to the little village of Sasawane, which is part of Alibag Taluka in Maharashtra. It falls under Raigarh district. It is one of the least explored beaches and thus is exclusively calm to enjoy a relaxing holiday. It is about 20 kms from Alibaug city.
Apart from Sasawane Beach with its scenic skyline views, the Karmarkar Sculpture Museum is the major attraction here. These sculptures were carved by Mr. Nanasaheb Karmarkar, who is no more, and these are displayed in his huge mansion. There are over 150 masterpieces to admire. People also visit the Shree Fulai Mata Mandir in Sasawane.
Alibaug is the nearest place filled with multitude of forts, temples and beaches. Once you are satisfied with Sasawane Beach, you can head towards Alibaug and visit Revdanda Fort, Korlai Fort, Kankeshwar temple, etc. You may also want to visit Birla Mandir, which is further away on the way to Roha, or the Bet EI Jewish Synagogue in Chaul.
Best Time to Visit
Avoid the monsoon season, as Sasawane Beach is no exception from other Konkan beaches that receive heavy rains during the monsoon. You would also be wise to avoid the extreme summer months. Ideally, winter is the best season, though you can plan your trip anytime between the months of October and early April.
How to get there
Mumbai airport is the closest airport, which is about 114 kms away. Pune airport is also only about 150 kms from here. The nearest station is at Pen and most Konkan route trains stop there. It is about 28 kms from Alibaug and around 38 km from Sasawane (via Hashiware Marg). From the rail station, you can take a bus to reach Awas, or board a taxi or auto rickshaw to reach Sasawane. If you are traveling from Pune or Mumbai, taking a state bus, private bus, or your own car is the best option, as it would hardly take 2 to 3 hours to reach Sasawane Beach. Buses stop at Awas bus stand from where the beach is about 6 kms. You can take a local auto to cover the last stretch.
You will find several good resorts like Saant Beach Resort, Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Big Splash Resort, Outpost (in-house restaurant), Yukta Holidays and more for your stay here.
You may make the most of your holiday by visiting all the historical places of interest nearby or just relax on the beach to take a break from city life and recharge your body and soul.
