Konkan, a beautiful place which is as good as a paradise, a coastline at western part of India. Konkan beaches are not typical beaches which are mostly crowded. You will find peace and relaxation on many of the Konkan beaches.

I would recommend everyone to travel by Konkan railways. You will have a great experience of your life by watching lush full greenery, deep valleys and refreshing air.

While traveling by Konkan railway, you are certainly going to be very impressed by the mountain ranges and green carpet of trees and villages. Konkan railway passes through some breath taking modern tunnels and bridges, which are also major highlights when you travel by Konkan railway.

You could see small village’s pops out in the valleys, which greet each other well with the natures.

Apart from Konkan hill ranges, you will be happy to see green rice fields everywhere. During rainy season the main attractions are huge water falls at Ghats. From milky and crystal water falls, which will stunned you with coolest environment.

The best time to visit Konkan is during monsoon and winter season. But if you are visiting Konkan during summer season. You can spend quality time at Konkan beaches and enjoy sea food cuisines. Tarkarli beach is one of the famous beach, where you can enjoy adventurous water sports. You could just book a resort and they will recommend you good package which includes stay, food and adventure sports.

Konkan Lifestyle

Konkan Tourism is just not about visiting the places but also understand the lifestyle of Konkan people. Konkan people live very simple life and love the exotic gift which they got from the god. They have all the modern amenities available and electronic gadgets.  But people over here don’t let gadgets to overtake them. Rice farming and fishing is the main source of income who lives in Konkan coastal regions.

Alphonso mango is the famous mango in India. Alphonso mango which is known as “hapus” is the king of mangoes. Alphonso mangoes are exported in many part of Indian and abroad because of its huge demand in the market every year. You will probably see lots of mango orchards farms everywhere. The famous and great quality Alphonso mango are found at Devgad. You can now buy Alphonso Mango online in pune and mumbai.

Also you should not forget the opportunity of drinking a fresh coconut water in Konkan. Coconut fields are found everywhere in Konkan regions.

Land in Konkan are suitable for farming of rice, cashew, mango, pineapple and spices.

Konan people believes in eco-friendly tourism, you will find all the beaches are clean. Whether you visit famous beaches, fort and even if you travel by railway to Konkan. Plastic materials are banned at many parts of Konkan.

Konkan Festivals

Holi, Ganapati and Diwali are most popular festivals celebrated in Konkan. Holi also known as “shimga” in Konkan is the one of the most enjoyed festival in Konkan region. Family members which are settled in other states come back to Konkan to greet each other and celebrate the festival.

During this time everyone in Konkan renovate their houses. Everyone believe that in holi festival god visits there house and shower blessings on them. Holi is celebrate in between month of March and May. The villagers ride the god and goddess in a Palkhi, which is handled on the shoulder of people. People dance and sing traditional songs.

Gauri & Ganapati is another major popular festival in Konkan. Ganapati festival which is also known as Ganesh Chaturthi in Konkan and Maharashtra. This is the hugely celebrated festival in Konkan, people here decorate attractive stages and lights during this festival.

Food in Konkan

Most of the Konkani people are non-vegetarian and they love non-vegetarian food. Chicken wade is the favorite dish of all Konkani people. You can find delicious sea food and chicken wade at almost all restaurants and resorts in Konkan.

Ukadiche modak is sweet dish which is served and cooked in ganesh Chaturthi festival. Ukadiche modak is made up of coconut and wheat, very delicious to eat.
