Apart from Hedvi beach, you should set a date with Sri Dasabhuj Lakshmi Ganesh Devasthan where the idol of Ganesh has ten hands. The natural gorge – Brahman Ghal that’s formed on the surface of sea shore, is also worth a watch.

Best Time to Visit

Though you can visit the beach any time of the year, it’s best to wait till the monsoons end as the natural beauty of the place would be at its optimum after the rains stop. October to March is the ideal period to plan a trip to Velneshwar beach.

How to get there

Mumbai and Pune are 425 and 252.6 kms from Velneshwar respectively. Therefore, air travelers from these places will have to take the road and either board buses or hire cabs to reach Velneshwar. You may also reach here via Kolhapur airport, which is the nearest airport at 203.3 kms away.

Those taking the rail route should get down at Chiplun, the nearest rail head that’s 60 kms away and board MSRTC buses or take private shuttles to reach the beach.

You can board MSRTC buses from Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur and Ratnagiri to reach Guhaghar, which is 18 kms from Velneshwar. From there, you can cover the last stretch via hired taxis.
