The word, Konkan tourism brings to mind beaches, water sport activities, rolling hills, monsoon-induced gushing waterfalls, fortified Maratha forts, and yummy seafood.
A trip to Dapoli beach and its nearby attractions is no less. On the map, Dapoli is situated near the coast and is a hill station in Ratnagiri district. It has ancient forts and temples, windswept clean beaches, and amazing seafood thanks to the biggest fish market in the whole of Maharashtra.

Karde beach
Karde beach is one of the calmest Dapoli beaches. Soft white sands cover the black sand underneath. This place is the best for romantic and solitary walks.
Murud beach
Murud beach is one of the most popular beaches in Dapoli. It is one of the cleanest beaches around with swaying palm trees, beach and water activities, and a camping facility. It is an amazing place to go with family or friends.
Kelshi beach
Kelshi is in the south of Mandangad – sandy, clean and soothing. It appeals to serenity seekers. There is a small play area for kids. Come here for the wondrous sunset and great food. Animal lovers can watch tiny turtles being released into the sea.
Ladghar beach
Check out amazing sports on this popular Dapoli beach like water scooters and parasailing. Few visitors come here to see the orange-hued sunsets while others are here for dolphin sightings. The famous Datta temple near the sea is where the pilgrims go on Ladghar beach.
Anjarle beach
Here is a 2 km long Dapoli Beach, clean and crowd-free just for spending some quiet time with your loved one. You can even cook food on the white sand and please that loved one with your culinary skills.
This is a Turtle conservation spot and lucky ones may chance upon little turtles walking towards the sea
Harnai beach
This is another white beach in Konkan. Views of Suvarnadurg appear on the horizon on this beach. The Harnai port is more famous than the beach. It is here that the Fish auction takes place from 6 pm onwards. Both traders and fish lovers throng this place to get the best deals of the day.
Forts around Dapoli
There are many forts around Dapoli.
- Suvarnadurg
It is a sea fort on a rocky island near Harnai Bandar or port. It was built on 8 acres of land by Adil shah and captured by Shivaji Maharaj in 1660. It can be approached only during low tide. Two massive gates Mahdarwaja and chor Darwaja and other architectural attractions make this fort a popular tourist attraction.
- Kanaka Durga fort
This is a land fort projecting into the sea and spread over 0.25 acres. It is mostly in ruins except for a lighthouse and few bastions
- Bankot fort
Also called Himmatgad fort, Bankot is 47 km from Dapoli. Built on Lateritic rocks, one end has Bankot creek in front. The other end faces a plateau. One can also check out the 2 temples and a secret entrance inside the fort.

Temples
Devotees come to this place to visit and pray in few holy places such as
- Kadyavarcha temple situated near Anjarle some 26 km from Dapoli. A nearby hill has a foot impression of the lord which the devout can take blessings.
- Chandika Devi temple is nearby. The goddess is resplendent with the light of lanterns and lamps inside.
There is a Masjid named Anda Masjid built in Irani style during the reign of Adil Shah. It is similar to Vijapur Masjid.
Panhalekaji caves
These caves are some 16 km from the Anda Masjid. Discover 30 caves with Buddhist carvings, stupas, and edicts in Bahami and Devanagari script
Parshuram Bhumi
Konkan is said to be carved from the Arabian sea by sage Parashuram. A 21 feet fiber statue is built in his honor at Burondi 11 km from Dapoli. The statue stands on a 40 feet globe overlooking Konkan. One can also view the Tamas Tirtha that turns looks red due to the sunset from the hilltop
Hot springs
If you are visiting Dapoli beach and nearby attractions, do not miss visiting the natural Hot water spring in Unhavare village.
Hot water bubbles surface from inside the earth in 3 pools. A slight smell of Sulphur is sensed and it is said to having medicinal value. This place is best visited in winter

How to reach dapoli
Road
The NH 17 connects this place to Mumbai and Pune. State and Private buses are available for Dapoli travel from important cities in Konkan and Maharashtra.
Railways
The nearest rail head, Khed station, is approximately 27 km from this destination.
Air
If you coming by air, you should land at Ratnagiri, 100 km away, and take the road route. Chipi airport work is under construction.
Water
You can also take a jetty from Ratnagiri and arrive here crossing Dabhol bay.
