Google has reduced its workforce by approximately 200 employees within its global business unit, which focuses on sales and partnerships. This decision reflects the company’s increased emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing.

According to reports, these job cuts are part of a broader strategy by Google’s parent company, Alphabet, to realign resources and prioritize investments in emerging technologies. This trend of streamlining operations and shifting focus towards AI and cloud services is also evident among other major tech firms.

Google stated that these layoffs are “small adjustments” aimed at improving collaboration and enhancing customer service. However, this move follows previous job reductions at Google, including a significant cut of 12,000 positions in early 2023 and more recent layoffs within its platforms and devices group.

As Google continues to prioritize growth in AI and cloud computing, further workforce adjustments may occur in the future.
