In case you find the beaches in Mumbai and Goa too noisy and crowded, here is a silent beach in between them that is serene, calm, and relaxing.
It also has facilities that big beaches offer like food, resorts, water sports and more.
Shiroda is a small village in the Sindhudurg District of Maharashtra. It is a few kilometers from the nearest town of Vengurla. It is one of the sites of the Salt Satyagraha movement similar to the Dandi march. A small area called Pansal here followed Mahatma Gandhi‘s footsteps and took up salt satyagraha in the 1930s here.
Shiroda is also home to a quaint beach on the Arabian Sea. Swaying palm trees,
Coconut trees and white sand make it an attractive destination for beach lovers. This 5 km long beach is the best to view glorious early morning sunrises and sunsets of dusk.
Shiroda beach is the last stop in Maharashtra state before Goa state begins. The traffic outside this beach is minimal. It is also calm on the beach save the sounds of seagulls and Kingfishers which populate the beach in few numbers. You might also find fishermen on the beach busy sorting their catches.
Water sports enthusiasts will have a great time enjoying the Jet Ski, parasailing, and other sport.
Little stalls selling chai and bhutta (sweet corn) make brisk business.
