Introduction
Choosing an exotic destination like Diveagar Beach for your holiday can be truly rewarding. The place has a mesmerizing beauty that can rejuvenate you and help you back to your routine life with renewed energy. Located on the Konkan coast, Maharashtra, Divegar hugs a small village and extends up to 6 km with its pristine beauty ready to attract and mesmerize all.
Major Attraction
The breathtaking view of the sunset at Diveagar is something never to be missed. Major local attractions of the village are the Suvarna Ganesha and Sundernarayan Temple. Unfortunately, the golden Ganesh idol of Suvarna Ganesha Temple was stolen and subsequently melted in 2012 by thieves. Since then, the temple has a silver idol of the deity. The Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary is another place worth a visit as it plays host to over 700 species of plants, colorful butterflies, lovely seagulls, mammals and snakes.
Nearby Attractions
One of the favorite tourist spots of Diveagar is the Murud Janjira, which is an ancient structure made of wood. This was created by few fishermen to defend themselves from pirate attacks. Other nearby places include the Kalbhairav temple, Harihareshwar beach that offers a refreshing view of the Arabian Sea and Lonavala – a famous hill station. You may even visit Bankot Fort and Somajadevi temple.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Diveagar is between October and February when the temperature is usually around 15°C. Since summer is extremely hot and the monsoon has high wind and heavy rains, it is ideal to visit the place in the pleasant winter season.
How to Get There
Diveagar does not have any nearby airports or railway stations. Mumbai and Pune airports are about 200 km and 170 km respectively from Diveagar. The nearest destination connected by bus route is a place called Srivardhan, which is 6 km from Agar beach. There are several Volvo buses that fly from Pune and Mumbai to Shrivardhan from where you ought to hire a cab to reach Diveagar.
Accommodation
There are hotels, guest houses as well as gorgeous beach resorts that range between Rs. 1500 and Rs. 6000 and more. Some of the popular high-rated beach resorts include Pratima Beach Resort, Shree Ganesh Beach Resort, Maitreya Beach Resort, Pearl Resort, and Happy Day’s Diveagar Resort.
