The parish of St. Michael is one of the eleven parishes of Barbados. It has a land area of 39 km2 (15 sq mi) and is located in the island’s southwest. It is home to Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados. St. Michael, Barbados offers a blend of history, culture, and modernism, making it a popular destination for tourists. Bridgetown – an old and historic place where you can see and experience an abundance of British architecture from the 17th to the 19th century. Centuries of rule have provided the city with a varied history. With all its picturesqueness, this city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Here you can visit Browne’s Beach, Garrison Savannah – Barbados Turf Club, Carlisle Bay, Rascals Waterpark, Nidhe Israel Synagogue and Museum, and many other fun and important sights.

- St. Michael’s Cathedral – built of coral stone with a beautiful tower and incredible battlements. Inside is a marble baptistery dating from the 17th century. The Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament dates from 1938 and has a heartwood wallaby tiled roof and a Canterbury Cross on the north wall. It is an Anglican church two blocks east of National Heroes Square. The Cathedral is the tallest of the Anglican houses of worship within Barbados. Therefore it is unique and one of a kind.
- Cultural Events – Barbados is known as the cultural capital of the Caribbean and here you can attend one of the most interesting festivals in the world.
- As the largest and most significant in St. Michael is the Crop Over Festival which dates back to the 1780s. Since Barbados was the world’s largest producer of sugar, this festival arose after the end of each season to mark a successful harvest. Although discontinued in the 1940s,
Crop Over was revived in 1974 with the introduction of new elements of Barbadian culture. This event attracts thousands of people from all over the world and it lasts around 3 months.

- George Washington House – Barbados is the only destination outside the present-day United States that George Washington visited. The house has been preserved and can be visited.
- Garrison Savannah – Barbados Turf Club – home of horse racing since 1845. It is exciting to watch the races as thousands of spectators follow the horse races passionately. With a series of parties and festivities, the residents share their unique sport and you, the visitors, are warmly welcomed.
- The Barbados Garrison is the home of the Barbados Defence Force, including the Barbados Coast Guard Force. A former British military base from the 17th century, it is now open to the public.
- Stavronikita – Greek shipwreck located off the coast of Barbados. It was deliberately sunk to form an artificial reef, this wreck is now home to numerous fish and corals. Over time, it has become a popular dive site due to its intact structure and the marine life it attracts. So if you are a diving lover, this is a unique underwater place that we recommend you to experience.
- Rum Factory and Heritage Park – Old-fashioned sugar refinery: archaic machinery, folk art fairs, a sculpture garden, and sugarcane fields create a unique atmosphere sure to please every tourist. Foursquare operates an open house policy so no need to book.

If you are traveling by plane and landing at Gently Adams International Airport in Barbados, it will take you 20 to 30 minutes to arrive in St. Michael using a rent-a-car, taxi, or shuttle bus.

- Kensington Oval – The Kensington Oval is a stadium located in the western part of Bridgetown, Barbados, and It has hosted many important cricket games between local, regional, and international teams. It is known as the oldest stadium in Barbados. At the entrance to the Oval, you will encounter a statue of His Excellency, The Right Honorable Sir Garfield Sobers. He is a national hero of Barbados, known as the greatest cricketer in the world.
