Jill Zarin’s daughter, Ally Shapiro, is setting the record straight regarding her relationship with Love Is Blind alum Leo Braudy.
“So, our relationship starts where most Jewish couples do — when my mom DM’ed him on Instagram. I swear to God it was not for me,” Shapiro, 32, said in a Friday, February 21, TikTok video. “She loved him on the show [and] I’m a huge Love Is Blind fan. Literally told my mom to watch the show for Leo because [I] loved it so much.”
Braudy, 31, appeared on season 7 of the Netflix reality TV dating show, where he walked away single after a failed engagement with Brittany Wisniewski. Within weeks of the show airing in 2024, Braudy was spotted alongside Zarin, 61, and Shapiro at Art Basel Miami. (Braudy works as an art dealer.)
In her Friday video, Shapiro clarified that she was not interested in Braudy “romantically” and asserted that they are just friends.
“I just thought he was a great character and I could relate to him on a lot of levels,” Shapiro said. “[My mom] slid into his DMs and we planned to meet during Basel [in] early December. Right before Basel, Leo called me and I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ Apparently, he’s a big talker. Now that I know him well, [I know] he loves phone calls and voice notes.”
According to the influencer, she “really connected” to Braudy after they started chatting.
“Obviously, at the time, I wasn’t looking for anything serious. I had just gotten out of an engagement and so did he,” Shapiro said. “We were both at Basel and he didn’t really know that many people because he’s newer to the reality scene.”
Throughout their adventure at Basel, Shapiro and Braudy connected over their respective reality TV stints — Zarin famously was an OG star on The Real Housewives of New York City — and the experience of navigating broken engagements.
“[We also connected] on a much deeper level,” Shapiro said. “He had a lot of death and cancer in his family; I lost [my stepdad] Bobby. … We’re both also only children and I feel like when you have a parent with cancer, you have a unique situation. We got very deep, very quickly.”
Per Shapiro, Braudy quickly “became the brother [she] never had” during the Basel weekend.

“I feel like I became his sister,” she stated. “I’ve had to rebuild my whole friend group, and he’s been a really big part of that. I think I’ve been a really good friend for him, as well, navigating this new world that he’s in.”
Shapiro further said that she speaks to Braudy — who later visited with the mother-daughter duo at their family compound in Boca Raton, Florida — on a daily basis.
“So grateful for you in my life,” he wrote via TikTok comment on Friday. “Friends that can relate on so many levels are rare and such a blessing.”
