Comparing the Norwegian NCL Vibe Beach Club to Spice H20 Experience – Eye of the Flyer

Last Updated on February 22, 2025 by Mrunal & Jiten

Transatlantic crossings are, to me, one of the best and most relaxing vacations on earth (see link above). The ones that go south (or start from the south) offer warm sea days and blue skies with little to do other than relax and unwind. Tell me another vacation that is this good?

As part of this vacation, if you are like me and my wife, you will want to find a relaxing place to enjoy these amazing sea days. You can head up to any number of public areas to find your quiet place, but with ships packed nowadays it can be hard, or even impossible, to find such a place to enjoy.
The solution for this, on many NCL ships, is to go to an adults only place called Spice H20. Here you are able to get away from the laughing and or screaming kids and really relax. What is the space like on the NCL Escape? Take a look at the video below:

As you can see this is a rather large space and, for me, it has one massive downside and that is smoking is allowed near the bar area. I have been an X-smoker for 40 some years and I can not stand the smell of smoke plus it gives me an instant migraine. If you are like me there is, for a fee, a better choice.
You can pay an upcharge and get access to the Vibe Beach Club. For us on this 14 day crossing it was just over $300 each and worth every penny. Here is a review of what to expect:
Never fighting for a seat plus padded chairs and many umbrellas and so much more. While not as exclusive as The Haven this is very nice for the modest upcharge. In many ways I consider VIBE to be a Haven-lite way of cruising and focused on deck time.
Here are some #ProTips about Vibe Beach Club. If you want this you will want to book this as soon as you can, that is, even at once if you can and add simply have it to your reservation. If the Vibe has cabanas available jump on those for a few bucks more as they also include Vibe access for that fee. You can also try the updated NLC App and try to reserve VIBE access but the new app has some issues (more on that later). If you have not been able to secure access before your cruise then be sure to be one of the very first to board the ship and make a beeline to customer service and request access.
Bottom line while Spice H20 is free you will not have the exclusive feel that Vibe Beach Club offers nor the added comforts it provides. – René
