The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) has confirmed that Carnival Cruise Line’s Celebration Key, a $600 million private cruise island, is set to open on July 19, 2025.
Located in Grand Bahama, this exclusive destination will host its inaugural visit from Carnival Vista, welcoming thousands of passengers to a luxury island retreat.
Celebration Key, developed in partnership with the Government of The Bahamas, is expected to boost local tourism, create jobs, and enhance cruise tourism infrastructure.
The Bahamas National Investment Authority (BNIA) has supported the project as part of the country’s strategic Blue Economy development plan, promoting sustainable tourism and economic growth.

Carnival’s CEO Josh Weinstein, Chief Maritime Officer Lars Ljoen, and Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy recently toured the island’s final construction phase. During their visit, they placed commemorative keys in the island’s 10-story Suncastle, a central landmark among five themed “portals” designed for relaxation and recreation.
Key attractions include:

As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, Carnival representatives also planted native palm trees through the company’s Plant a Tree community engagement program. The project aligns with The Bahamas’ Sustainable Tourism Policy, which promotes eco-friendly infrastructure and local economic benefits.

Celebration Key will be an exclusive port of call for over 500 Carnival cruise itineraries, spanning 20 ships from 10 U.S. homeports, significantly boosting visitor numbers to Grand Bahama.
The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) estimates that the new cruise port will generate thousands of jobs, with direct benefits to local businesses, artisans, and service providers.
Minister of Tourism Chester Cooper previously stated that investments like Celebration Key are crucial for The Bahamas’ post-pandemic tourism recovery, strengthening its position as a premier Caribbean cruise destination.
